Adidas-shoes

Adolph Dassler built one of the world's most popular marks of sports shoes, “Adidas”,  'Adi' from Adolf and 'Das' from Dassler. He started working as a cobbler in Herzogenaurach, Germany. He made slippers from old military bags with the help of his sister. As he was a good football player, Dassler began producing training shoes in 1920 when he was only 20 years old. He used his athletic experience and the help of doctors, trainers and coaches and other athletes to better design his shoes. In 1949, Dassler created the first soccer shoe made of rubber and decorated with three stripes. The German National team won in the 1954 World Cup wearing Adi's soccer boots, and hundreds of world records, Olympic medals and World Cup victories stand as a testament to Adi Dassler's life work.

BEES

People have known from ancient times that the insects called bees make delicious honey from the nectar of flowers. There are more than 20,000 species of bees, and they live all over the world but not in cold places.

Bees are flying insects that have short, thick bodies covered with hair and, like all insects, six legs and three body parts: head, thorax, and abdomen. Most bees are able to fly about 20 kilometres per hour, but they can fly much faster. They have two pairs of wings.

With three single eyes on top of their heads and two huge compound eyes, bees can see colour and movement. Bats are blind, but bees can see all colours but not the red, and they see ultraviolet, which humans cannot. Bees have no ears, they are deaf, but they can sense where they stand up.

Some years ago, the office was a place where there were more people. Today, offices are full of machines; Photocopy machines, fax machines, computers.

A manager of a big computer company thinks that machines work better than people. “In offices, many of the secretaries and receptionists were very lazy”, he said. They took long breaks and left work early. But machines are hardworking. They don’t take breaks and they never go home.

His company makes robots: machines that look like people. These machines do all the work in the office. The manager tells the machines what to do, and they do it. It’s fantastic! Breakfast sets you up for the day
While many nutritionists recommend eating a good breakfast every morning, a lot of people do not realise how important it is. Eating a regular breakfast can help to promote good health.

Breakfast literally means breaking the fast and for some people, especially younger children, an overnight fast that can be as long as 16 hours! That's why breakfast is so important. Missing a proper breakfast means you don't get the energy needed to function properly in the morning.

Read this first:

Everyone believes that there are so many earthquakes nowadays! But scientists deny this. They do not believe that there are more earthquakes now. There might seem to be more earthquakes. But that’s partly because there are more scientists studying in places around with better instruments, too. They can use satellites and aircrafts and they have huge networks of seismometers to keep track of volcanoes and earthquakes, no matter where on earth they happen.

Today, when there is an earthquake or a volcano, it has more impact on people because there are more people on our planet than ever before. The media covers these catastrophes and this activity, also, might make you think there are more earthquakes. But that’s just not so. Scientists say that the number of both earthquake and volcanoes has been pretty constant for the past 200 million years.
